Public Radio Growth in the Capital of Alaska

An announcer on KTOO’s news and public affairs station

Twelve years ago, Public Media Company helped the NPR news and information station in Juneau, Alaska acquire two additional stations, and now the combined entity is far and away the number one most listened to radio station in the capital of Alaska with a combined share of over 39% with daily news and information, and a 24/7 jazz/ classical and adult alternative format, each provided on a separate station.

Since the acquisition, Capital Community Broadcasting has met all of the financial goals for the acquisition and repaid over $800,000 in funds borrowed from reserves and the Juneau Economic Development Council. This freed up more operating cash to go toward expanded news coverage, as well as music and cultural programming, for the Coast Alaska region.

If this the type of long-term plan you want to enact in your community, we have the experience and years of analysis to ensure your expansion plans will result in the long-term sustainability of your station.
