Marc Hand, CEO & Co-founder
Marc Hand co-founded Public Media Company in 2001 and serves on its board. As CEO, Marc is focused on creating strategic public media alliances and partnerships to strengthen public television and radio.
Under his leadership, Public Media Company developed VuHaus and Channel X, two innovative multimedia services focused on music and journalism, respectively. He led Public Media Company’s work to support public television stations in planning for the FCC spectrum auction, as well as the upcoming ATSC 3.0 digital television technology standard rollout. Marc has also co-authored several articles analyzing opportunities for public television stations in the spectrum auction and in deploying ATSC 3.0.
In 2001, Marc was a member of a group that drove the historic tax-exempt investment grade bond product for public radio and television financings and has worked with financial institutions nationally to develop public media investments.
Marc’s media experience of more than 30 years includes Managing Director of PMC Group; Managing Partner and co-owner of a group of commercial stations in Colorado; and an associate with two national media brokerage firms representing commercial media owners in sales, acquisitions, mergers and financial restructurings. Marc spent five years at the Station Resource Group (SRG) helping public radio stations expand services via acquisitions, collaborations and partnerships, leading to the development of Public Media Company. Erin Moran, CFO/CAO
Erin Moran joined the company in 2002. Named CFO of the Year for Small Companies in 2011 by the Denver Business Journal, Erin has primary responsibility for overseeing Public Media Company’s financial affairs, administration, and the Public Radio Fund. Erin lends her expertise to a variety of Public Media Company’s client engagements and serves as CFO of WMVY. Additionally, Erin is the Director of Finance and Administration for VuHaus, a nonprofit video collaboration with the nation’s leading public media music stations. Prior to joining Public Media Company, Erin held various management roles at Key Equipment Finance including Director of Internal Audit, Tax and Investment Programs. Erin worked for Key in Europe successfully overseeing the finance and operations function of a ten country, $250 million business unit. Erin started her career as an auditor with two of the largest, international CPA firms. Erin has served as an instructor at Leeds Business School at the University of Colorado and Front Range Community College.

Erik Langner, Managing Director
Erik Langner joined the company in 2005. As Managing Director, Erik represents public radio and television organizations in planning for and executing mergers, acquisitions, operating agreements and financings to increase impact and to build financial capacity.
A regular presenter at national conferences, his innovative work with station management teams, boards, universities and funders has led to the preservation and expansion of public media services for tens of millions of Americans. Additionally, Erik co-founded and serves as the President of VuHaus, a live performance music video collaboration of the nation’s leading public radio music stations. Prior to joining Public Media Company, Erik was a corporate attorney at the law firms of Latham and Watkins in San Francisco and Kirkland and Ellis in New York City, and also worked at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.
Erik graduated cum laude from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and received his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Alison Scholly, Managing Director; Executive Director of Channel X
Alison Scholly joined the company in 2015. Alison oversees philanthropy and marketing for Public Media Company. As Executive Director of Channel X, an innovative B2B content exchange for public media, Alison is responsible for the expansion of the service among public media and its contributors.
Prior to joining Public Media Company, Alison was Chief Operating Officer and interim CEO of Chicago Public Media, leading a team of 135 employees and architecting WBEZ’s rapid digital expansion, which included podcasts, national shows This American Life and Sound Opinions and Vocalo.org. Alison also held several media leadership roles at Tribune Company, most recently serving as Interactive Vice President of the Chicago Tribune, expanding Tribune’s digital business and tripling audience reach to 5.1 million unique visitors a month. She also served as executive producer of Chicago Tribune.com and editor of Metromix, Chicago’s first online arts and entertainment website.

Stephen Holmes, Director
Steve Holmes joined the company in 2017. Steve is leading the launch of the Station Sourcing Group, a procurement station service that is a joint venture between PMC and WGBH Business Services. Steve has spent more than a decade helping public media organizations and their leaders become more successful by identifying new opportunities, fostering partnerships, and leading high-level initiatives that achieve meaningful impact.
Prior to joining PMC, Steve worked twelve years at Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Steve has in-depth knowledge of successful service models across public media. Most recently, as Senior Director, Strategy & Insight at PBS, Steve developed knowledge management practices and tools, provided critical insight to public media leaders, and led initiatives such as StationManagementCenter.org that helps connect station managers to valuable local and national information. Steve’s prior role at PBS involved him managing all aspects of the PBS strategic planning and performance management process, including board retreats, environmental analysis, staff communication, and the design, development, and implementation of strategic plans and corporate performance metrics.

Kristina Cushing de Recinos, Director
Kristina Cushing de Recinos joined the company in 2018. Kristina leads PMC’s ‘Next Generation TV’ initiatives, including the Public Media Venture Group, a coalition of public media television licensees committed to working together collaboratively in Next Generation TV. Kristina has spent the last ten years working at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, most recently as Vice President, Operations where she led the corporate annual strategic planning process and led a comprehensive review of major technical infrastructure matters resulting in $50 million in anticipated savings. In her other roles at CPB, Kristina was responsible for data driven-financial and operational analysis for use in strategic planning. Her depth and breadth of experience in public broadcasting allow her to work with stations in this rapidly evolving media environment.

Evran Kavlak, Director, Consulting and Research
Evran Kavlak joined the company in 2005. As Director of Consulting and Research, Evran oversees client engagements and the creation of complex financial models, business plans, and station valuations for clients. Evran works directly with a broad range of organizations ranging from start-ups to the largest public broadcasters presenting performance dashboards, peer group analyses, business plans and overall industry trends (radio/TV/new media) to senior management as well as key decisions makers at the board level. Evran manages all aspects of the Public Radio Fund including assessing credit risk, structuring loans, and monitoring loan activity. Prior to joining Public Media Company, Evran served as an accounting assistant at KPBS Public Broadcasting in San Diego. Evran began his career in Istanbul, Turkey at an investment trust firm, evaluating the financial condition of publicly traded stocks in a variety of industries.

Terri Olsen, Accounting and Operations Manager
Terri Olsen joined the company in 2004. Terri oversees the day-to-day accounting functions at Public Media Company and its LLCs, including the processing of all bills and generation of client invoices. With her strong organizational skills, Terri provides invaluable support to Public Media Company’s management team. In addition, Terri oversees Public Radio Fund Senior Investor administration. Terri previously worked as a Customer Service Representative for Bowne of Denver, where she coordinated all aspects of the printing of clients’ financial documents for submission to the SEC.

Cliff Hahn, Digital Producer for Channel X
Prior to joining Channel X, Cliff was senior producer for the Yahoo/Starbucks Digital Network, an innovative news and entertainment channel available in Starbucks stores nationwide, offering content from more than 20 media partners like The New York Times, ESPN, The Wall Street Journal and Marvel Entertainment. Cliff served as the front page content editor for Yahoo.com, the #1 visited site on the internet and helped usher in the site’s most recent redesign. Cliff has also worked as a digital producer for News Corp’s News.com.au in Sydney, Australia and Businessweek.com in New York, focusing on technology, lifestyle and small business. Vincent Curren, Principal at Breakthrough Public Media Consulting, Inc.
Vinnie served as Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) for nearly a decade. As COO for CPB, Vinnie had overall responsibility for managing CPB’s policy, grant-making and station support activities. While at CPB, Vinnie was also deeply involved in spectrum policy and advocated for public television’s interests in the spectrum auction at the highest levels of the FCC.
Since leaving CPB, Vinnie has formed Breakthrough Public Media Consulting. Breakthrough assists public media companies in navigating today’s converging and competitive media world. In partnership with Public Media Company, Vinnie is focused on helping public television stations leverage the power of ATSC 3.0, the next generation, IP compatible, broadcast television standard.

Mark Erstling, Consultant, Public TV and ATSC 3.0
Mark Erstling is a highly regarded public media consultant who has worked in public broadcasting for four decades. He has a demonstrated record of successful administrative experience at the local station level in production, programming and as a general manager.
At the national level, Mark’s experience includes development of strategies, policies and standards that advance the interests of public media enterprises. He began his career at WUFT-TV, the University of Florida’s public television station, and then worked at a number of stations including WJCT in Jacksonville, WGBY-TV in Springfield MA, and then, he joined Penn State University as the General Manager of WPSU-TV/FM and General Manager/Director of Educational Communications, where he led a major expansion of public radio service.
Mark has also held a number of key national strategic public media roles, including Executive Vice President and COO of APTS, and Senior Vice President for System Development and Media Strategy at the CPB. While at APTS and CPB, he focused significant attention to the financial health of local public stations, including their ability to use new and emerging distribution and operating models, the transition to digital television and the just completed FCC Spectrum Auction. Fred Baumgartner, Consultant, Public TV and ATSC 3.0
Fred Baumgartner, CPBE, CBNT is a fellow of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, a trustee of the Ennes Foundation, Fellow of the Radio Club of America and Nautel’s TV product manager.
Fred was Director of Broadcast Engineering for Qualcomm’s MediaFLO project. Previously, he directed Leitch/Harris’ Systems Engineering group. Up to that time, he served as Director of Engineering for the Comcast Media Center in Denver, its Director of New Product Development through the center’s AT&T ownership and Director of Broadcast Satellite Operations during its TCI ownership era.
Before joining the satellite and cable origination world, he held the position of Chief Engineer at KDVR-TV and KFCT-TV, Denver; WTTV-TV, WTTK-TV, Indianapolis; KHOW AM & FM, Denver; WIBA AM & FM, Madison, Wisconsin, operations manager at KWGN-TV, Denver; and others beginning with the overnight gig and a newly minted FCC 1st Class license at WBIZ AM & FM, Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1972. Fred was also heavily involved with the development of EAS, and has authored several hundred articles and a few books on Radio and TV engineering.
Hannah Eaves, Digital Director for Channel X and VuHaus
Hannah Eaves is a digital innovation strategist who works with media companies and foundations to increase their impact. Recent projects have encompassed product design and development, startup accelerator research and program design, and media impact measurement. Her current and past clients include Public Media Company, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Knight Foundation, Matter Ventures, and CUNY.
Christopher Kirchner, Director of Sponsorship and Underwriting for VuHaus
As the Director of Sponsorship and Underwriting for VuHaus, Chris Kirchner manages sponsorship activities and builds partnership relationships to develop and grow VuHaus’ financial capacity. He is an accomplished broadcast sales manager, who has overseen multi-million dollar revenue budgets at Greater Media and CBS Radio for WMMR, WMGK and WPEN-FM.
