Public Radio News and Information Reaches the Imperial Valley
ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANT(S)San Diego State University
PMC represented KPBS in its negotiations to acquire a commercial FM station to reach the growing population of South Eastern California. The Imperial Valley was one of the largest areas in the country without public radio programming, and San Diego State University (KPBS’ license owner) had two campuses there. As a result of this expansion, approximately 100,000 listeners gained access to English-language public radio news and information services, including programs such as Morning Edition® and BBC News. San Diego State University is able to broadcast KPBS’ programming on all of its campuses, and bring a valuable public service to Imperial Valley residents.
